Adding variables

On the Configure step of a new project, add each variable as a key and a value before you click Deploy. Keys look like this:

VITE_API_URL=https://api.example.com
NEXT_PUBLIC_SITE_NAME=My Portfolio

A word on secrets

Anything in a frontend build (VITE_*, NEXT_PUBLIC_*, REACT_APP_*) ends up in the JavaScript people download. Anyone can read it. Never put secret keys, database passwords or payment secret keys in frontend code.
